Feature Article: 5 Things Your Wedding Professionals Want You to Know But Won’t Tell You

An event as big as a wedding requires you to deal with a multitude of professionals and sometimes more than that. Your event is successful only with good cooperation between you and the wedding professionals you employ. So, establishing a good rapport with those organizing your event is extremely important. Here are five tips to ensure you have a successful business relationship with your wedding professionals which will result in a blissful wedding day!

1. Treat us like your partner: Based on the size and purpose of an event, you may have to deal with professionals of several types like videographers, photographers, caterers, venue managers and audio visual suppliers. You may not be the best in certain fields, which these professionals are.  Experts often come up with innovative ideas to add grandeur to your event. If you treat wedding professionals like partners, they will not hesitate to put in the extra effort. True wedding professionals are the best problem-solvers. If you treat them like your partner, you can approach them without hesitations in case something goes wrong in the event.

2. Build a good rapport: Try to build healthy relationships with wedding professionals from the very first day. You shouldn’t make a difference between those who are familiar and professionals you are working with for the first time. Also, it is not the best practice to take advantage of professionals. If they are nice to you, be equally nice to them. This will ensure that you get help from them when you are in a tight situation.

 3. Enough with the quotes! The multiple quotes requirement is not the best strategy to apply. This is something which wedding professionals hate. Only if you are in the business of creating packages can you image how long professionals agonize over what to include at which price point. Bottom line is this – true professionals are giving you the most bang for your buck at the specified price point! Don’t nickel and dime us, and we won’t nickel and dime you.

4. Follow Up! It is understood that for the most part, you are interviewing several professionals in a specific category to determine who’s the best fit for you. That’s totally acceptable. However, it would be really nice if you would notify the “unchosen”. Believe it or not, most professionals pencil you in after a consultation. As soon as you’ve made a decision, please – let us know if we need to grab our eraser or ink pen.

5. Reward us with your referrals: Rewards act as the best form of encouragement. Once you recognize somebody’s good work, the person will try and make more efforts to fulfill your requirements. This doesn’t mean a tip. You can reward them best by referring these professionals to your friends’ weddings or those of your associates.
